The purpose of the DPWW Awards Program is to recognize members who have made significant contributions to the club either during a specific year or over an extended period of membership. The details of this program are provided below. Note: The DPWW Awards Program provides a framework for offering awards, if the Awards Committee considers that any are warranted and the Board approves.
Awards Committee
The President will appoint an Awards Committee composed of:
Vice-President – Chair (Non-voting except in case of a tie).
Treasurer Life Membership impacts club finances.)
2 – Life Members.
1 – Regular member (non-board member).
The Awards Committee will manage the DPWW Awards program including:
The process for awards nomination and approval.
Determine the number of awards to be presented each year for each category.
Review nominations and select recipients for approval by the Board of Directors.
There will be two awards categories:
Life Membership Award:
This award is to recognize an individual who has provided long-term service to the club over a period of not less than 10 years.
An appropriate award will be presented.
Awardees will no longer be required to pay dues.
The total number of life members (current and proposed) will be recommended by the Awards Committee in consultation with the Treasurer and approved by the Board. This number will be reviewed annually in April (after the conclusion of the membership renewal period).
Service Awards
This award is to recognize an individual ‘s specific contribution to the DPWW during the current year.
An appropriate award will be presented.
There are no set number of awards to be presented each year. This will be determined by the Awards Committee and approved by the Board.
Awards Nominations
The membership will be asked to submit award candidates using the Awards Nomination Form below.
This form will be submitted to the Awards Committee by September 30 of each year. Awards will be given during the following January meeting.
Time Line
April – Awards Committee determines the number of awards to be presented for the current year
June – Members notified to submit award recommendations
September 30 – Award recommendations due to the Awards Committee
November – Awards Committee reviews all nominations and submits recommendations to the DPWW Board for approval.
January – Awards presented at the January DPWW meeting.
Note: No Awards Committee member may nominate themselves. Neither shall they participate in any related discussion or vote on an award for which they have been nominated.
